R.I.P. Don Belton
I returned to Indiana to hear of this terrible loss at the school down the street from me, Indiana University. Novelist Don Belton was murdered in his own home last week. The man who admits to murdering Belton is claiming that Belton had sexually assaulted him. Other evidence suggests that he and Belton have been seeing each other consensually for some time, and that this man murdered him in cold blood. That Belton is black and male and gay will certainly set him up in public opinion as a predator who got what he deserved. We should know better.
